Fault Code Index explains the fault codes on gas heaters, furnaces and hot water systems.

What this site is

Each code page says what the code means, whether it is safe to fix yourself, and when to call a licensed technician. Meanings come from each manufacturer's own manuals and are written in our own words.

How each code is checked

Every code is built from the manufacturer's own manuals. Each code page lists the manual and page it comes from.

A second, independent pass then checks every entry against those pages: the code, its meaning, its causes, and whether the owner steps are safe.

A sample of every table is then checked once more against the manual before any of it is published.
