Goodman gas furnace code EEb: Gas valve not powered when it should be
Gas furnace, Canada and United States
The control is not powering the gas valve when it should be (an external gas valve error), and the furnace does not run.
This needs a licensed gas technician. There is nothing safe to check yourself. Leave the covers on and book a professional.
This involves the gas supply or burner. Only a licensed technician should open the unit or work on gas parts.
What causes it
9 series three-character display (GM9S, GM9C, GR9S, GR9T)

The gas valve circuit is miswired or open.

The gas valve relay on the control board is stuck open, and the control board is replaced.
ComfortBridge three-character display (GMVC96, GMVM97, GMVC8, GMVC80, GRVT, GRVM)

How to read this code on your unit
The code shows on the three-character display on the furnace control board, which you can see through the sight glass on the blower compartment. IdL means the furnace is idle and normal. A blank display means the board has no power or has failed.

- Turn the unit off and leave the covers on. Gas components must only be serviced by a licensed technician.
- Note the code, how often it appears, and the model and serial numbers from the rating label.
